Payton originated the role of “Maude Tate” in the world premier of new bluegrass musical From The Mountaintop: The Edgar Tufts Story.
She was also a member of the 2019 Performance Intern company at Lees-McRae Summer Theatre.

Payton as “Street Chorus” in the University of Virginia McIntire Department of Music’s 50th anniversary production of Leonard Bernstein’s Mass.
Payton as “Myrtle Mae Simmons” in Heritage Theatre Festival’s production of Harvey.

Payton spent her summer at Mill Mountain Theatre as a 2017 Summer Intern, working as Head Dresser for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and touring backstage with The Jungle Book.
